Step by step, product by product, we are detoxing our home and trying to find economical ways to do it. The decision to set aside my beloved Cascade Pods was a tough one, I’ll admit. But after doing my homework and seeing the less-than-stellar report from the EWG, I felt like it would be worth it.
At first I was somewhat annoyed by the complexity of some of the nontoxic dish detergent recipes I found online but after (a lot) of trial and error I’ve found a recipe that I really do love and is 100% nontoxic and eco-friendly!
The best part about this nontoxic dishwasher detergent is that it is so easy to make and very versatile! I’ve used it in many other cleaning projects around the house which is a selling point all its own because when you’re making all your own cleaning products it can get overwhelming really fast.
Another factor to consider is cost and this is, hands down, the cheapest option I’ve found! This mix should cost about $0.12 per ounce which is nearly half the price of the name brand nontoxic dishwasher detergent I was using before.
The recipe could not be simper:
Mix it up really well and you’re ready to go! I use a tablespoon in both of the detergent compartments in my dishwasher and my dishes come out perfectly clean every time!
I hope this recipe is a blessing to you and yours, leave your comments below and let me know if you get a chance to try it out!
